Since then, humanity has created hundreds of writing systems, thousands of alphabets, and countless ways to write the word “cat” without anyone understanding what you meant. And so, I’ve compiled it all into a little zine. Why? A very good question. Perhaps to remind myself and others that languages aren’t just grammar and rote memorization, but also aesthetics, play, and the pure joy of existence.
My zine is not a textbook, not an academic work, and certainly not something a linguistics professor would hang on their wall (unless they have a great sense of humor). This 46-page micro-journey through the planet’s alphabets: Georgian, Armenian, Arabic, Korean Hangul, Latin, Glagolitic, and a few more you might not have heard of, but now you will, because fate is cruel.
Read without preparation. Understanding is optional. Enjoyment is encouraged.
If you like letters, space, a bit of absurdity, and the feeling that the universe is much more interesting than it seems, welcome.
