Violence is often understood exclusively in unilateralterms—men against women. In fact, most definitionspoint in that direction, such as the one that statesthat gender-based violence “is violence perpetratedagainst women simply because they are women, a
violence that crosses borders and cultures andcontinues to persist despite progress made in otherareas of society” (Ramos, 2012). However, there is avast silence regarding violence against men, as if theonly violence that existed were that which affectswomen.
